my nct is coming up soon and i noticed other day my passenger side headlight was sitting out a bit about 10mm from were it meets the wing, i checked and a plastic bracket has cracked in two, would it still pass if it was aligned to compensate or am i looking at a replacement headlight

Really depends on the car but you might be able to fabricate you're own bracket and use the existing holes to save drilling new ones.

Throw up a picture and we might be able to help more.

They check the headlight to make sure its secure.

Something similar happened mine, the casing that held a scew in broke so the headlight was loose and it failed the NCT. I used a screw and bolt to fix it and its held ever since.

For alot of modern audis and possibly other makes, you can buy repair kits for those brackets. The kit is basically a bracket similar to the broken one but shaped to sit against the light (after you grind off the remains of the old bracket) and be screwed / bonded to the light casing. A very good idea tbh
