How do you approach your players playing each other?

    Hi guys

I have 3 Arsenal v 3 Spurs this weekend as well as 2 Liverpool v 1 Man Utd player.

Just wondering how you guys usually approach this sort of situation?

I think the North London Derby will be a high scoring affair, so tempted to rest Dawson and Mertesacker, but would like to hear other opinions.

    Thanks

(apologies if it didnt require its own thread)

    :)

In general, I try to avoid defenders vs attackers. If its attackers vs attackers, I let them go to war.

Arsenal v Spurs always has goals so resting both wouldn't me the worst idea ever. Who else have you on the bench?

Bench of outfield players Ravel Morrison (WHU), James Chester (HC) and Joel Ward (CP).

    Thanks for the reply :)

Your bench doesnt give you many options unfortunately. Chester away to city is a complete non starter, and morrison to come on for 1pt should also be considered a non starter imo. You have a relatively premium centre half at home in mertesacker and so he should play, esp considering the extra bonus potential of centre halves this season. Any attacking players on either side is also worth a place in your team.
Ward is at your own discretion. My opinion is avoiding Palace at the back as they are the weakest team in the league but if u have picked him in your squad then a home game vs Sunderland relative to your other options is almost as good as its going to get for him to play on your team.

    Some good points.

I think a Ward clean sheet is a lot more likelier than a Dawson one so will act accordingly!

In my opinion, it doesn't strictly matter. If I think Soldado is more likely to score than Sturridge this week, but I also think Mertesacker is more likely to keep a clean sheet than Shawcross, then Mertesacker also starts, even if both can't happen unless there are substitutions.

IMO it is best to make each decision on its own merits.

This may seem odd but I find that when I have Attackers vs Defenders in a gameweek, I do good in that week.

They tend to be win-win situations where I either get the 6-9 from the defender or the 5-12 from the midfielder/striker.

Like this week, I had Benteke vs Mignolet. Got 9 points between them which is decent considering the average was 45 this week.
Gerrard vs Vidic. Got 12 between them which is an average of 6.

In the first week, I had Giroud vs Luna and then Benteke vs Koscielny which went great too. (Apart from the red card and penalty misses and own goals haha).

Obviously it doesn't always work out this way but so far this season, it's 4 from 4 for me and I have a nice bit of confidence going into those types of encounters.

I take the exact same view on this.

that would be my approach also. Say u had terry and rvp last nite. I think its the wrong decision to bench either.Obviously terry is the player people would leave out but theres a fair chance you will pixk the wrong player to bench which makes your situation worse.
