Unreal Main Dealer Service

Tried to order parts from a well known main VW dealer in the Kildare Area over the past few weeks and got really frustrated with them. They will not answer their phone when you try and ring to order parts and when you do get through they say can you hold for a min and leave you waiting for ten mins on the line.I understand that parts stores are busy but its no wonder so many of them are closing with this poor customer service!

There are lots of people on holidays at the moment. A parts department probably only has 2 or 3 lads working in it so when they are a man down it puts a lot of extra strain on the others. I know it is frustrating (I deal with several main dealer parts departments every day) but you have to make allowances.

What parts are you trying to order?

This is going on over a period of time George not just over the summer period.I was trying to order back lights for a van in the end i had to buy it outside the county which is a pity as i would have preferred to buy local

Why? The lads in my motorfactors take holidays too and its not an issue.
Main dealer charges the biggest premium of any parts supplier, the service should be impeccable at all times, my experiences are always sadly the opposite

Why? If you reward sh1t service then that's what you'll continue to get.

I have to disagree with this. They charge a premium for a service & should provide the service. They are also positioned as a premium brand and sell the cars based on that... they should follow up on it.

If I went on holidays and told my clients they had to make allowances...

You should never have to "make allowances" when it comes to customer services. Its not the customers problem that that the dealer is understaffed; the customer is entitled to expect the same high level of service all year round, and if they dont get it from one business they will rightly go to someone else. Its not even to do with the prices that dealers charge (although given what they charge they should be working their asses off to make sure that it is worth it); its just good business practice.

I ordered Mercedes Parts from what I think is the dealership the OP mentioned.

Got through to parts fairly promptly, guy knew what I was asking about, but didn't have them in stock. Ordered the parts and rang when they were both in stock.

    All went swimmingly.

It was either early 2012, or possibly late 2011. Can't really remember, and I don't order that many parts (except Floor Mats for Fords).

Bet they were cheaper "outside". Never understood this buy local rubbish, if I can get the same product from outside Ireland for less I will. Why pay more to a greedy business here when you could get it delivered to your door for less from another country.
My brother got 2 toyo tyres recently, delivered from the UK for just over what he'd pay for 1 here.
