Hi Guys, The crank-set seems to be making a clicking noise as I'm pedaling but when I put bike on work stand no matter how hard I turn pedals by hand not a thing to be heard! Also chain seems to be rubbing front derailleur in lots of different gear combinations again only when on bike, any advice greatly appreciated thanks.

The noise is coming from your pedals not your crank,if you have spare ones change them over and see if the noise comes again,if not just screw them off give them clean and lube the thread and put back on,that should sort it...........
With the chain it could be time for a change get your LBS to change it over and ask for them to tune up the front mech again

What type of BB do you have?
When do you hear the clicking, going up hills, accelerating, putting power down ?

I would think the the FD needs to be adjusted to eliminate the rubbing, search on here for a good thread on how to do this.

My pedals were doing the same. Take them off and clean apply grease to the threads and should do the job.

I've had clicking sounds come from a square taper crankset after some grit had gotten onto the taper. If in doubt, pull everything apart, then clean and regrease everything before putting it back together.

Or just tighten the pedals a bit. Has eliminated noises for me from time to time.

Had the same issue only last week; I was convinced the BB was knackered and was just about to get my mate to replace it when I decided to grease the rear dropouts... not a peep aout her now.. worth a shot...

Just don't grease the tapered part of a square axel. Apparently it's possible to overtighten it if you do, possibly ruining the crank.

I think it's a matter of preference. Grease won't make you overtighten a crank, pulling too hard on the allen wrench will.

However, application of grease will inhibit both rusting and the corrosion between a steel and aluminium interface as well as keep out grit to a certain extent.
