Quite simply, as title and new. 50 euro.
Bought as a edge bundle pack but I have no use for the sensor.

I have answered the question to the best of my ability. I have asked him or her several times to explain the post and link that was provided that BTW was to a similar item IN A DIFFRENT JURISDICTION AND CURRENCY. So unless alkos makes us any more enlightened to their post my true thoughts are my own. That said if that mentioned Explanation is given I shall have no Hesitation in making them known. So once again, alkos?

Or maybe he was trying to alert that a similar item can be bought new for less - e,g. Chainreaction has Garmin speed/cadence sensor for 46.99 Euro, post free.

Oh, and it's not 'new' as described. It's second-hand, even if unused.

Indeed. You are all correct. In fact I have a brand new one of these sitting in the glovebox of my jeep for the past year - it's worth nothing to me; however it's not for sale. This one is, but none of you has made the guy an offer, you're just attempting to inveigle a socialist model on a free market transaction.
If the seller was asking €1,000 for something that was worth €10, then offer him a tenner for it if you want it. If not why bother with misguided attempts to "educate" genuine prospective buyers?

If you buy from Amazon, this item costs 37.83 euro, including postage, to this jurisdiction.
That's one explanation for alkos' post.

Why is an attempt to "educate" genuine prospective buyers misguided?.

And if you buy from the OP, on Boards, with whatever postage you agree between you, then it's a commercial transaction between two parties. Why get involved unless you want the item yourself?
I'm not being aggro on this but I just can't understand the attitude - as anyone can see from my post history, I'm the first one to make a GENUINE low-ball offer on something that's for sale THAT I WANT. However I just don't have the time or inclination to get involved in transactions I have no interest in (other than this one!), so I don't see what's being served by others posting "informative" links as to where advertised items can be bought cheaper.....

I suppose because this is a cycling community site that looks out for its members rather than a proper commercial selling site like donedeal or adverts.

Is this you "not being aggro".
I think FairPlay is served by pointing out that better value is available elsewhere.

Because I believe in the free market concept that it's none if your business unless you're involved in the sale. Fair enough if you have a different opinion. North Korea is full of people who would agree with you.
On the other hand, if you feel like offering the OP €0.50 for it, I'd agree with you.
In fact it would be the highest offer he's gotten so far......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭Eamonnator

Absolutely, so you'd hope they understand that nobody would like to see a fellow member paying over the odds for something!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭spyderski

How is it over the odds if that's what someone decides to pay? I used to buy and sell lots of stuff here - don't anymore. This is why.

    Caveat emptor.

The 'free Market concept' has absolutely nothing to do with your argument that its no one else's business unless you are immediately involved. Indeed any description of free market economics encourages the transfer of information from any source which as this encourages efficient pricing and therefore an true market.

I get your point (I think), but you fell down a bit on the "coherent English" front.

I wasted 4 years of my life studying Economics, so unless you wasted more don't bother lecturing me about market efficiencies.

Anyway, there's little point continuing with "Capitalism 101" here. See you all on After Hours.....

BTW, offer the OP €35 for the speed/cadence sensor. Can collect in South Dublin or will pay €3.50 for postage.

Expense is all relative Dr. Troy. He didn't accept my offer yet. And €35 is not expensive compared to what you charge for cosmetic surgery down there in Miami....:D

Sorry for the late reply spyderski, the sensor is on hold for aidanor, A very nice guy to deal with BTW, till Monday but if that fails to happen it is of course yours if needed.
Reading your comments over the last few pages made me smile, great minds think alike, springs to my mind, ah!

See where the unregulated 'free market' got us.
Look on this as a form of regulation (even 'socialist', as you call it, if you like).

This is a community where I take and give advice, so I simply disagree with you as we 'get involved' for many different reasons. If a fried or even casual acquaintance is buying something second-hand for more than it can be bought new, with warranty etc, then I will advise them. I think it would be a very poor reflection of society if there was something seen to be wrong with that. There is, of course, a strong force of individualism, but I don't buy into it. The buyer still has free will, when 'informed', to make whatever choice they wish.

SO YOU HAVE SEEN THIS ITEM AND KNOW ALL ABOUT IT. IT'S NEW IN THE PLASTIC. This is my sales post and I would Appreciate you kept YOUR Opinions of its condition to your self.

Sorry, but this forum is for opinions and information (and SHOUTING isn't considered good form).
If you 'sell' and item 'new', then you have certain obligations, such as warranty, etc. So, you item is not 'new'. It may be 'as new', but it is still second-hand.

€10 offered if you change your mind. No point in cluttering up the glovebox.

Lets clear a few things up here.
    • This is a community service, not a commercial one. It costs nothing to use and requires a fair amount of volunteer time to run.
    • People are perfectly within their rights to point out if an item is available for cheaper elsewhere. This has been a feature of this section since Day One.
    • If you don't like the rules, you aren't oblige to use this service.
    • If you have a query on the rules, you should PM the mods.
    • Complaining about the rules on threads isn't going to get them changed.

I really don't want to have to come back to this thread again or start issuing sanctions to people, but I will if I have to.

    Thank you.

Are those sanctions aiming at the members that question my sales post or the ones that provide a link to a cheaper item. I could go through every sales post here and provide a link to a similar item priced cheaper but I won't and don't. It's none of my bussines. Full stop. As to if its new or not again I stand over that its new, I can provide a link to the definition of new, if some would like. I have two offers on this at a price between me and the members. I am a genuine seller, member and cyclist. I have two genuine offers on the item and I will Guarantee that the buyer will be happy with both the price and the item.

    No, neither is actionable.
