    Folks,

Just a few questions in relation to handicap changes.

Q1. After playing and submitting a score via the computer in an Open. How long does it take for a handicap adjustment to take place ?
Q2. Is there any limit on the number of .1's that you receive back ?
Q3. What is the buffer zone ?

    1. Depends on the course. I played an open in dunmurry before that took a couple of weeks to come through. Played one in lucan & it was through within a day or so.
    2. Can't remember exactly on this but I think its something like 2 full strokes worth of point ones from your lowest point that year (very open to correction here)
    3. Buffer changes depending on your category. It is the number if shots you can hit above the css without gettin a 0.1 back. Cat 1 has buffer of 1, cat 2, 2 strokes, cat 3, 3 strokes, etc....
If in a strokes competition css is 72 & you are a cat 3 golfer you can shoot up to 75 net & not get 0.1, anything worse & you get 0.1 back.

    Hope that makes sense

Your club should close and process the handicap changes immediately after a competition. Our club will have the handicap changes processed by the next day. If it's an away score it depends when the club syncs to golfnet. Again this really should be done after the competition has been processed, but often it's not. Either way, if you know you're to be cut you must apply the cut yourself before playing in another competition even if the club has not processed the cut yet. You can't give yourself a 0.1 back.

Q2. Is there any limit on the number of .1's that you receive back ?

You can get back 2 shots above your lowest exact handicap in the year. So if you're on 14.7 the highest you can go to in the year is 16.7. This is different than 20 0.1s because theoretically you can get any number of 0.1s back ... for example, you start at 14.7 and get 20 0.1s back to bring you to 16.7 but then you get cut a shot to 15.7 in which case you could then get another 10 0.1s to bring you back to 16.7.

Q3. What is the buffer zone ?

    Already answered well above.
