Getting a grand after dropping out?

    Hi,
    Does anyone know if you can get a grant if you've dropped out of college and accepted a new course the following year?
    Does it depend on your circumstances or is it just a straight no-no?
    I got a full grant in my first year of college and decided to drop out and begin a new course this September. Is there any chance of me getting a grant or having my fees paid for at all?

    IF you are starting again in first year then you will more likely not be eligible for any grant/fees as your previous course counts against you. You would have to self fund the first year, as if you drop out of a course then you are not eligible for a grant/fees until you have completed a similar number of years in a new course.
    So in your case you should be eligible for assistance in the second year of your new course. However, to be 100% sure you should talk to SUSI - they are very helpful from my experience and will let you know exactly what the situation is.

    You probably won't get a grant or free fees for year 1

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
