No insurance without fire cert- commercial property

    I understood that this was already the case if a building required but didn't have a valid certificate of compliance.

    ya that's fair enough, but what I was told was that commercial properties that never had a fire cert in the past will need one from Nov in order to get insurance... maybe its rubbish ???

    We've done a fair bit of remedial works on older buildings recently and it's always been the same reason - need a fire cert for the insurance.

    One hotel has over 150 risers that all need work done to them - just under the 12 year clause that meant the contractor was beyond financial approach for the work!!
