Powerpoint dishwasher: intermittent error E6

I'll hear nothing bad said about my Powerpoint IDW12 dishwasher. Supposedly "cheap Chinese junk" it's served me with only a minor simple blip this past 8 years or so. I love it: cost nothing but runs and runs. I've only just replaced an 18 year old fridge so there's miles left on this dishwasher of mine..

I am getting an intermittent error 6 on it these days however. Press the power button ON and it'll either accept the programme and run to finish or it will almost immediately flip to E6 and run the drain pump until powered OFF. If I get the error and try to restart it a few times it usually sorts itself and get's going.

Any idea what E6 stands for? I rang Shomar but they want to book a service call, which almost isn't worth it for an old machine. I'm handy so can fix it if I only know what it is I've to fix.

    Cheers..

OK, a quick google provides limited help, just one suggestion to check the inlet (water) pipe filter.

About as useful as a wheel on a walking stick!

The best suggestion I have is to check the drain pump as this is the part that gets the most abuse in any dishwasher for debris and clean out the filter.

hi , E6 on that model is thermistor showing open circuit during test on start up - normally it is an intermintant fault - replace thermistor

they go faulty as those machines have a problem with water levels , can heat with too low a level of water causing thermistor and the older thermostat to pop

Thanks. Disconnecting the thermistor Indeed gives that error immediately - I'll get one from Shomar and breath new life into an elderly dog..
