    Women:

    (1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - 5.4 = Body Fat Percentage

    Men:

    (1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - 16.2 = Body Fat Percentage

    hahahaha.

Youd be better off grabbing a handful of belly fat and guessing a %

It's only 50% out for me, which is more accurate than I thought it would be...

  • Harsh that I'm going to go up a quarter of a percent overnight the day before my birthday even though absolutely zero difference in body composition would occur.

Just looking for an idea is this accurate at all or would another way to calculate be better

Its based of BMI (height, weight) and age. No other info is imputed.
The inaccuracy should be obvious. Two people could have identical BMIs but very different body fat levels.

That said, for large groups or the "average" build for a given BMI. It'll probably be a close estimate. So its useful, just don't for an individual.

Also, eff wye eye, BMI stands for Bag of Mickeys,Innit. That alone suggests it's not to be trusted.

Those measurements are no good really. Best thing is to find someone that can do a 12 point caliper body fat test. I got one done recently and she also highlighted the reasons for excess fat in the areas tested. Gives you a much better insight into body fat and physical and mental causes of it so definitely try get a 12 point test done.
