    Hi
Just finished building a hackintosh computer with:

    i7 intel processor
    GA-Q77M-D2H motherboard
    500 gb hard drive

Having great problems with trying to install Mac OS on the new system using uniboot and unibeast software.

When I run the uniboot software and swap the cd with the OS snow leopard.. I get as far as the grey window with apple logo... The snow leopard cd was purchased from the apple website, only two weeks ago.

I did -x before trying to install the OS and get a panic error message!!!

Hope someone reading this might be able to help before I go crazy???

    Thanks :-)

does unibeast work for snow leopard? why not install one of the more recent osx versions? hackintosh isn't worth the hassle in general though

    Hi

I have both OS X and snow leopard, but prefer snow leopard.. Why should I try and build a hackintosh? It's cheaper than a mac and plus if I solve the installation problem could share experience with others..

Boards.ie has always turned up trumps for me in the past for answers :-) hope it helps me again..

snow leopard is just a version of os x (10.6). you would be better off installing the latest version and i don't think it even costs that much from the app store, if you were intending on buying it in the first place

this is the preferred method of installation, using usb sticks

the reason that i refer to hackintosh systems as being too much hassle is that it can require quite a lot of work and is a bit finicky/unstable. it isn't exactly a viable alternative to buying an actual mac (for most people) and is only really any good for learning and/or testing your abilities

    Hi Indough,

I agree with what your saying. Would you agree with me that its better to build a PC hackintosh for about 500 euro rather than spend 1500 euro or more for the same specifications?

I have the OS X software, but prefer snow leopard. I already use a macbook pro with mountain lion OS and yea it's fine... But again prefer snow leopard, everyone to their own... You right that I should try using OS X for installation.. We'll leave it at that :-)

Any way.. Anyone out there with any hackintosh installation experience?? Let me know!! Want to pick your brains :-)
