All Boardsies are invited to our Bumper Quiz night on Thursday 26th September 2013. It will take place in the Radison Hotel just off George's St ,starting at 8pm. The cost per person is €10 ( €40 for team of 4 ) . We are holding a quiz as our big fundraiser for the year to enable us further aid our club development . We would love to see a lot of athletes, runners, joggers, taking part. But everyone is welcome . Please pass on the word to your own clubs. Maybe we might find out who is the brainiest running club in Dublin. ( we may even have a little prize for the best running club on the night ) . We do promise a great night for all.

This sounds like good fun. I'd be up for putting together a team. Good cause as well, it would be great to see Bros Pearse develop into a proper club :D

Tallaght A.C. are very welcome. Don't worry , we won't publish the scores to save you any embarrassment

Don't worry Tallaght, there will be points awarded for correctly spelling your club name at the top of the answer sheet.

Perhaps you should look into changing your club name to X

And perhaps since the potential embarrassment of being the worst club on the night has been removed, some of you other clubs might like to come along and compete for 2nd best? :D

I'd join you if you want.

It'd be great to donate something towards the Knocklyon joggers. If they can raise enough to buy a bit of white paint, they could line out their own grass track. That might stop them from having to trespass on our state of the art facitilty on saturday mornings :D

Could make it a TAC boards team. They need to make money so they can afford to come to a quality track and spy on real athletes training (sans mise recently of course) ;)

All tallaght athletes will be searched at the door

All tallaght athletes should be aware that public acts of indecency will be ruthlessly posted on the internet :)

And so it was ....... "the tallafornia 4" of ecoli, drquirky, meno & TRR were formed. I reckon meno is our secret weapon he is so full of useless crap at the best of times, a table quizz could be his opportunity to put his useless facts to some good.

It's the exit you joggers would want to worry about. We will be leaving with first prize, any of you good looking women and we are also going to poach your best runners for out meet and train group ;):D

There'll hopefully be a lot of cash there on the night- we may need to increase security in light of the latest revelations from our frenemies in Tallaght AC

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 444 ✭✭PVincent

What started out as a genuine attempt to attract genuine runners to our quiz night has turned into a pitch battle . I propose that Tallaght and Bros Pearse each have 3 named teams to represent their club ( an all male team, an all female team, and a mixed team - all must be genuine club members - AAI cards at the ready) , and the result of each match will decide the winners. Any other clubs interested...I notice Sportsworld and Rathfarnham have yet to be drawn in to the battle - come on guys. DSD ,Raheny, Clonliffe, etc do they do table quizzes.

Hahaha this whole thing was a windup to ensure that meno came along. With that sub 40 10k functioning alcoholic in attendance our bar deposit is sorted :)

    1-0

A side benefit will be handing yourself, L and N your asses though. Feckin bring it.

Ill be very disappointed if you dont arrive in tracksuit bottoms and pringle jumpers. Lady athletes may go for the pyjama option. Naturally.

Maybe it should be some kind of cage-fighting type event instead?

Against Tallaght athletes? Their brutish physique is evidence that they have adapted to their hellish environment - they could be quite dangerous in a fight. Give me a clash of wits any day :D

I'm already feeling sorry for the quizmaster if they disagree on an answer...... :(

Anyway, it's great to see an event like this supported, please see website...

Sportsworld don't have the same problem - they just run up and down a GAA pitch (while the match is on) :D

I can see this all ending in a drunken impromptu beer mile up and down the quays :D

well the national beer mile champ will be in attendance ready to take on all comers. Just don't make it a relay. Meno and ecoli let the side down badly back in May. Couldn't be relying on those 2 light weights :)

Sportsworld are now throwing shapes.... they'd probably hide behind us in the battle royale, at least the lads from Tallaght are upfront- I can see it now season 5 Love/hate: the running wars

Incidentally www.joggersraisefundstocutgrasstrack.com actually redirects to www.bestclubindublin.com

Yeah get the sportsworld crowd down too. I miss my glamour-couple stalkers. Ill get that restraining order revoked for the evening....

Really looking forward to this now.

PS re: grasstrack -has anyone seen the track david rudisha trains on? We take the kenyan approach. We charge up hills, we race around trails, we look good doing it.....and in our spare time, we read the times :)

Just an update, this crowd couldn't organise a pi$$ up in a brewery and the date of the quiz has been changed to the 17th of October I believe. I said I'd do the right thing and update everybody as the Bros Pearse lads aren't very reliable :D

    Bump.
I hear CL and Digger are entering a Sportsworld team ; Can we get the other clubs (Crusdaers, Donore, Raheny etc) to do likewise? Maybe have a bit of boards club rivalry to spice things up ;)

oh, and as well as the quiz and the raffle, there will be an auction on the evening for the following prizes -

    1. Four-ball Grange Golf Club
    2. Sony Xperia P phone
    3. Four-ball Greystones Golf Club
    4. Xbox Kinect Console
    5. Four-ball Delgany Golf Club.

There are a stupid amount of prizes. We may have to spend the whole evening just throwing them into the crowd and forget the whole questions bit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,642 ✭✭✭TRR

We haven't decided on our team name yet, we have 2 options

    1) The Tallafornia 4
    or
    2) Knocklyon-use-to-be-in-Dublin24

    I'm leaning towards option 2 :)

Good stuff- we'd be more accustomed to single digit numbers anyways (particularly in races) Wouldn't reckon any of the Bros. P crowd would know a top ten number if it slapped 'em in the face :D

No that had runners in the 100s, you might be getting confused with the Dublin track championships that were recently held on our track. You know the one we rent out to you ;)
