Terribly sad news that the newly(ish) appointed head of the Chemistry department passed away this morning. Dr. William Carroll was a former lecturer of mine and I think he will be sadly missed. Ruture chemistry students will be missing a great teacher.

Very sorry to hear that news. I hear that he was a very nice and helpful lecturer.

I'm actually in complete shock after hearing this. Liam was one of my lecturers and he was also my final year project supervisor a few years ago so I got to know him quite well. I always loved his lectures. A great teacher and a genuinely nice man. Very approachable and always willing to help. I actually met him last Thursday and he told me he wasn't well, but this was the last thing I expected. A huge loss to the chemistry department and the university. He will be missed. Rest in peace.

He was my project supervisor this year, one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Always had a story to tell about NUIG throughout the years. Still can't believe he's gone.

I can't believe I haven't seen this until now. A very sad day for Chemistry in NUI Galway. He was always very helpful to me whenever I had any questions and was always very good at explaining things that I couldn't quite grasp. He will be a lose to both the research and teaching side of the Chemistry Department. RIP
