Getting car insurance for one (driving test) day

Hi, I'm ready to do my driving test but I'm a lot more comfortable in my mum's car than I am in my instructors car (2010 VW Golf, diesel) and I would like to do the test in her 2004 Nissan Micra. However, I am not insured to drive the Micra and I can't afford and have no use for a years/months worth of insurance.

I was wondering if it was possible to be insured in the car for just the day of the driving test. However, my mum's insurance is a woman's only insurance company so I wouldn't be able to get on her insurance. Would an insurance company insure me for one day/week in the Micra, and how much would that cost on average for a 20 year old male holding a provision license for 2 years? Would they give me a special deal for just using the insurance during a driving test only?

    Thanks!

They can't say "woman only" realistically.

But no, generally there is no one day insurance. Could you not hire an instructors car for the day? Their insurance covers that :)

I could hire my instructors car but like I said, I'm a lot more comfortable in the Micra and I would feel a lot more confident if I was driving it for the test. I'll have a word with my mum's insurance company and see if they will insure me for a week or a month, thanks

Maybe have a look and see if there are any driving instructors with a Micra and you could just get their car for the test. I have seen a temporary insurance over in UK though.
