Don't order the Ferrari just yet. If they're Queen Victoria or later they're probably worth feck all. All of the British coins you mentioned were in circulation here in large quantities until decimalisation in 1971 and in the case of the 1s and 2s for a few years after that because they were identical in size to the Irish 5p and 10p respectively. None of the Irish coins you mentioned are in any way rare either, people held to huge numbers of them and they're still being discovered at the bottom of old sideboards, sofas etc.

Exactly what are you looking for? You haven't stated the condition of any of the coins so nobody can give you an estimate as to their values which you can do for yourself anyway based on the data in those websites.

With respect to mothnot I'm guessing they might not be experienced enough to be able to grade the coins correctly and get a proper valuation based on those websites. Also the data on Irishcoinage can be way off at the best of times.

Some of those coins listed could be valuable if they were in extremely high grade but worth little in lower grades. But they'd want to be close to uncirculated to have any real value. If you want us to asses that for you mothnot then please post clear photos. If they have average circulation wear then prepare to be disappointed.

    OP, some tips....

Put the silver and copper coins in separate photos. Use a darker background for the copper coins, the light background you're using means the coins are underexposed because they're much darker than the background. In contrast if you used a dark background for the silver coins, the coins would be over exposed so use that current background only for silver coins.

Jack up the camera resolution to something in the region of 1280 x 1024 or if it offers megapixel numbers, select '2M'.

Uplod them to www.pix.ie in a specially created album, then post a link here. That imageshack website is a disaster with assorted flashing ads and download buttons.

Indeed at least you've learned some new things. Unfortunately as regards the coins they are indeed of little value. I should point out that the 1940 Penny, 1939 Half penny and the 6d's of 1945/46/47 are actually key and semi-key dates but only really worth talking about if they are of very high grades, which these aren't. Why not use them to kick start a collection or give them to someone who might.

Guys - new here - so maybe I am positing in the wrong area - I was clearing the attic at home and came across lots of old Irish and European coins - some old 1 pound notes and 5 pound notes...is there anywhere in Ireland that you can drop these into for valuation etc..
