Hi :) I done a FETAC Level 5 in Applied Social studies, done quite well, but not well enough to get the course I wanted, which was Social Care Practice in Sligo IT. My only option now is to do the follow on course from social studies, which is Community development, Level 6.

Can anyone tell me, would it be easier to progress onto Social Care Practice (Level 8) from a level 6 ? And also, what grades would I need in Community Dev to get automatically into the IT?

If someone could help me I would really appreciate it :D

You need to contact the Admissions Office in Sligo and ask them whether they would accept a Level 6 Community Development award for entry into the course. Only they can help as they will be making the decision on your application at the end of the day. Using Level 6 as an entry route onto a course in the IoTs is not as direct as using a Level 5 as there is no national system.

The other alternative you have is to complete the Higher National Diplomas offered by Edexcel in some of the large FE colleges in Dublin and also in Cavan and use that to progress to a degree in the UK.
