Ok I know this is motor engines but I'm really hoping somebody can help me here. I have a slow oil leak out for my B&S 15.5HP tractor lawnmower. I think its coming from the silver thing at the front of the lawnmower engine (see pic).

I had a sheered flywheel and got it fixed so I dont know if they took off the cap in the pic (I've checked bolts and they are as tight as possible but I see its sealed also). Is this the oil sump?

    Many thanks.

The B+S engines had a problem with cylinder head bolt torques being wrong and leaking.
You need to get them retorqued to 25 Nm.

No it's not the oil sump, not sure what it is but it looks like a bit of electrickery and definitely would not leak oil.

Oops, didn't know they had gone to overhead valve, assumed it was the old side-valve design!
