Reading reports that they carried the English language feed for last night's live PL match.

    Can anybody here confirm?

They didn't for any other live match over the weekend.

They are broadcasting Chelsea v Villa tomorrow.

    Thanks for that :)

I should be in a position to check it too.

I've now read in a few places that they definitely had it on Monday.

They didn't on any match at the weekend though so it must've been a mistake.

Tonight will be interesting but I doubt it'll have it.

It's an error most definitely, Digital + too have done it on rare occasions last season for Live EPL.

Fingers crossed for tonight pal :)

Yes, they do. Excellent for when taking an English audio feed from elsewhere.

EDIT: Sky Calcio & Sky Sport Germany are also stadium noise only on the Arsenal match right now.

Bad news on the Sky Italia front - it was an accident, as we feared. Italian only tonight.

Including having the English feed up until the start of the match - or even as far as a couple of minutes in - before the mistake was rectified :D

Digital + tonight with the crowd audio option, as said above - handy if you get a feed for BBC 5 Live & put it through RadioDelay.

Picture on Sky Italia though is so crisp.

I've read arguments that the reason I'm not blown away by Sky UK HD any more is because my eyes are now accustomed to it.

These people need to see Fox Sports Italia!

I waited until half-time to turn over. I'm watching the guys in studio now. Very impressive picture - thanks for the tip.

Sky UK (and Ireland, nearly forgot) are getting away with murder :D

EDIT: They're showing match-highlights now, astonishing picture quality!

I think either, but don't quote me on that.

meanwhile I have looked myself, think its in the calcio package included

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_Italia

and on their weird homepage the channel is listed at the calcio package
but the soccer offer is great again and include many EPL matches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭becher

Just to 100% clarify, Fox Sports is part of the 'Calcio' option and is NOT available to Sport subscribers.

Anyone else having problems with Fox Italia? Premiership matches seem to be blocked this weekend, they were fine last weekend.
As soon as the matches are over it unblocks.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

It's very strange, this program is blocked is the message on screen in Italian, just the same way the Europa League matches were blocked on ESPN.
I messaged the eBay seller I bought the card from to see what the problem is, I'm waiting on a reply from him, hopefully this isn't the start of more restrictions on Premier League broadcasts, it's so annoying! I thought this was a foolproof option

'avviso numero 08 programma non disponibile' is the message, right?
When Fox Sports is blocked can you still open Sky Calcio 1 and the others or are they blocked as well??
Update : You are not alone, prepaid cards have been hit all over Europe. Normal subscription cards are not affected.

That's very disappointing news. The EPl are really rubbing people up the wrong way.
You wouldnt mind either but the standard of football in the EPL is probably at its lowest level in a decade, its very poor fare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 502 ✭✭✭Finne1993

Programma non disponibile is simply the message and soon as the match is over the channel is back on
All Calcio channels and Fox Sports plus working fine all the time including when Fox Sports is blocked. looks like I'll be looking for a refund!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭denis1501

I'd wait to see what happens if I were you, loads of people here in Italy use the prepaid cards as well and there's murder going on right now on the forums, talk of legal action etc. I can't see how they can sell a prepaid card to a particular package in good faith and then block a channel that was said to be part of the deal. If they knew certain cards were being used outside of Italy then fair enough but a carpet blocking of the Premier League games across all the cards?? Can't see how that can be legal tbh.
I was in my local Sky Service store just last week and there were prepaids with decoders on sale for 299 euros, Fox Sports was clearly advertised as part of the package.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

Surely this can't be right? How can sky uk/epl have so much control?

Just been doing some research and indeed it seems that prepaid cards have been hit around Europe (Well i've read examples of Spain and Italy). I'm hoping now this opens a can of worms and puts another nail in the greed and overpriced structure of the EPL. There will be a backlash of prepaid customers flooding through doors come monday morning looking for their money back, perhaps the EPL will pay back all the rights money to the relevant countries involved??? Fat chance.

Well it will be their downfall anyway if people across Europe loose their EPL viewing, theres plenty more leagues to be watching now. The Bundesliga is fast becoming the best league in the world and has a much better business model than the outdated EPL. If i had to watch that on a saturday afternoon, I wouldn't be too disappointed!

Oh, to make things more laughable, Sky Italy blamed bad weather for the problems yesterday!!

And yet again like whats been mentioned on other forums, It pushes people to watch EPL in Illegal forms, so then everyone looses out, from the customer right down to the EPL themselves.

So much for Europe and the freedom of goods etc etc. Seems Europe being one happy family is only there to work 1 way.

Perhaps we should soon have a pan European broadcaster that will buy rights for the whole of Europe and put a stop to this stupid tit for tat tactics.

Blocked again today for the Liverpool United match. They must be in a fierce bad way over in Italy if the bad weather has lasted this long. :-)

Seems pre paid sky Germany customers are also being affected. Its very very poor form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭denis1501

One of the moderators on an Italian forum I respect is saying that it is only a database problem at Sky and will be rectified in a couple of days. He says some prepaid cards were wrongly programmed. Now I doubt that he's correct but I thought I should post this anyway.

    Another forum user states
"ho parlato ora con lo sky center
mi hanno confermato che sulle nuove prepagate non è possibile vedere la premier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ho fatto una discussione terribile ma hanno una direttiva nuova in cui si specifica che per una questione legata ai diritti televisivi non possono trasmettere in diretta la premier".

I've just spoken with the Sky Center, they have confirmed to me that on the new prepaid cards it is not possible to view the Premier League!!!!! I had a heated conversation but they told me that they have a new directive in which it is stated that due to rights issues they can no longer transmit the Premier League live.

theres one point you seem to have missed

both fox italy and sky Germany are carried on Sky , people buying them in uk and Ireland etc are paying Rupert and Sky less than if they subscribed to sky here ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 278 ✭✭Douglas Eegit

Any more rumours on how this Sky Italia/Fox Sports is going to pan out?
I got my Sky Italia box delivered yesterday and not going to unbox it until next week. Not looking good though so I will probably have to send it back...

    EDIT:
Just reviewed the ebay site I purchased the card & box from and they seem to say that fox sports does not include premier league on prepaid cards:
With Fox Sports HD you can't see Premiere League

I will wait two weeks before returning the box just to back up what they seem to be saying but i think it could have substance as they are an Italian provider,

Is the day of the foreign box showing EPL slowly coming to an end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭denis1501

No, Fox Sports PL coverage is being blocked only on 'prepaid' cards, normal subscriptions are NOT affected.

This may be a case of closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Sky Italia/Fox is owned by Murdoch also. People seem surprised that a company might stoop to such a level. At the end of the day, they will sort the issue locally and offer their customers an alternative no doubt involving a proprietary box tied down to a card and an address, if what is being discussed is infact true. People who have not bought locally will of course be fecked as they have violtated the T&C of the prepaid card.

Despite the ECJ judgement, broadcasters/rights holders don't have to sell outside their territories and I am sure there is something in the PL agreement that actually prevents them from doing so. Otherwise we would have Pan European rights being sold. Its seems sneaky, but hey the motivation of the overall owners is to make as much money as possible. If that means cheesing off a few thousand local Italian customers to avoid UK pubs getting hold of their cards then..... Sky Italia didnt seem perturbed who they cheesed off subscribers last season when they removed the english audio streams.

Other PL rights holders might not have such interest in doing same as they are not owned by Murdoch!

Bottom line, stay away from foreign broadcasters were Murdoch has an interest, if this is what their plan is.

Its already happening, I know quite a few guys that have been in the foreign satellite game for many many years, Have now got out of it. They are now using iptv boxes possibly to not very legal streams. But now with this move, everyone loses out in money.

I said this on another forum, EPL/Sky Uk seem to have a serious problem with a small percentage of Irish/UK viewers using other EU broadcasters for tv reception, But they dont seem to bothered about all the thousands of bars in cities and resorts around Europe showing Sky UK. Kettle calling the pot black springs to mind!
