Check out this link http://www.fetac.ie/fetac/learners/hels/hels.htm and this document http://www.fetac.ie/fetac/documents/Progression_Opportunities_for_2013.pdf

but make sure that you have the right modules etc for the course you are applying for as otherwise it won't matter how many points you have received.

Applicants MUST check both the individual higher education institution and CAO websites information to ensure that they meet any special requirements including e.g. achievement of a particular component, and whether the institution requires that all credits are achieved in a ‘single sitting’.

    Best of luck

I got 390 in my leaving cert and i got the full amount of distinctions in my plc which would give me 400 points. Do the fetac points count in universitys? I applied to science in NUIG and it jumped up to 405 this year and if its only 5 points off my fetac points i was going to wait it out untill the round 2 offers. What do yee think?

As a FETAC applicant to NUIG you are assessed separately from the Leaving Cert students. You must meet the entry requirements for FETAC applicants and not go by the entry requirements for the LC students. The FETAC places in NUIG are reserved and thus offers are made in Round 0 and not Round 1.

So my 400 points arn't going to count in round 2? That sucks. I knew the courses weren't related it was just the points that i was using. Thank you for letting me know.

You must meet the entry requirements for FETAC applicants and not go by the entry requirements for the LC students. That also includes the points. The FETAC places in NUIG are reserved and thus offers are made in Round 0 (reserved FETAC places) and not Round 1. But if there is not a take up of all the FETAC places offered in Round 0 then Admissions Officers will see what vacancies are left and offer the remainder in Round 2 to combined FETAC and Leaving Cert applicants.

Focus on whether you meet the entry requirements or not at this stage. They are listed here http://www2.cao.ie/fetac/fetac_search2.php

I would suggest that you contact the Admissions Office in Galway and see what they say. There may have been offers to a limited number of those who achieved 8 distinctions and you missed out on random selection. (Round 0 random selection) But check with the NUIG Admissions Office.
