Ducato 2.2 or 2.8

    Hi.
    I' looking at a couple of vans for conversion to a camper.
    Which is the better engine the 2.2 or 2.3 hdi or the 2.8?
    Van will be 2002 - 2006.
    What can I expect mpg from either?

    2.8 pick of the bunch

    2.3 has a bad auld electronic setup, 2.2 is an 8v iirc

    Expect low 30's mpg wise

    Thats not bad mpg for a big van, I had a 2.4 swb relay and it hardly did that!
    Is the 2.8 an Iveco engine?
    Also did any of them have a 6 speed box?

    Got a choice of 03 2.8 LWB crew van €2k or 05 2.8 LWB panel van €2500 both low miles.

    That's on a long run, high 20's combined otherwise

    2.3 and 2.8 are Iveco engines, smaller sized engines will be handier on fuel but not as good electrically. 2.3 suffers badly from non starting

    As for a 6 speed I think the 2.3 had it
