    Hello, would anyone advise on Mask Avenue, Dublin 5 if it is a nice area to live (safe/ok for a family to settle)?

    Some people will claim this is Artane but it is really Harmonstown. The place where Barrystown is based on the Roddy Doyle books. That should give you an idea.

    In truth is it isn't the worst area. It is essentially a council estate but hasn't become gentrified as people got older. You could probably find nicer for similar money

    Your so wrong. The place were Barrystown is based is Kilbarrack. Roddy Doyle taught in Greendale Community College, Kilbarrack. The Snapper, The Van were all filmed mainly in Kilbarrack with the exception of a few scenes. The Commitments only had one scene filmed in Kilbarrack.
