I use it on Windows8. I haven't tried movies, but I can listen to all the music I need to. It matches all your owned music in the cloud also so you can listen to it on other devices

I use it on my surface and music & video works perfectly. Your collection is in the clouds so if you login on any windows 8 device, windows phone or indeed log in at music.xbox.com, you will have full access to your music collection.

You can rent or buy both music and video. The choice is up to you.

With Xbox Music, you have free unlimited streaming for 6 months on one device if you do not pay the subscription, with the choice of buying songs or albums if you wish so.

Otherwise, if you pay a sub of €10 a month,(first month free) you have unlimited streaming and downloading, with full access to your music from the cloud (access it anywhere and be able to sync your music to your windows phone/xbox for example). You can sync your music on up to 4 Windows devices. You still have the ability to buy the music, whether you have a sub or not.

With Xbox Video, you can rent or buy films. If you rent, you have 48hours to watch it. The rental fee depends on the film, but its cheaper then Xtra Vision.

Hope that explains it for you.
