Job Seekers Allowance Back Payments

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not Job Seekers Allowance is back paid from the date of application aka the date the claim was made? I applied 4 weeks ago and was just approved so I'd like to know if the first payment they issue includes payment for those 4 weeks or whether they only count payment from the day it was approved?

    Thanks!

It will be backdated to your claim date minus three days.

It is important to apply on the first day you become unemployed because you will not get paid for the first three days of your claim.

    They backdate it

You could be waiting another 3 or 4 weeks.

You can apply to your local community welfare officer to give you an interim payment while you are waiting

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
