In a country that has to borrow money to change the lightbulbs on the street, I notice fine gael TD's in north county Dublin area apparently can afford to print in full A4 colour " magazines" promoting themselves & pay to have them Distributed door-to-door.

How about spending this money on something worthwhile instead of PR for politicians .

Full colour, a4 size multiple page PR magazines.

Nice work if you can get it.

    Lump sum 270k
    Pension of 68k p/a.

Sligo County council in 80 million DEBT.

Any wonder the country is in financial meltdown. He should be getting state pension and a clip around the ear.

Don't they have to use their own privately raised money for promoting their party?

Or are they allowed to dip into public funds to pay for that sort of thing?

Now, now, Sam, they wont be long getting out of debt now once they have a tranche of new taxes to rise. Maybe even get a couple of new replacements!

    Who need to cut back!!!!!

The weekly recession thread. I believe there should be a forum dedicated to the recession and anything recession based should be limited to that forum only.

The waste of money that these clowns in the oireachtas get away with is unreal, someone mentioned on radio there recently that there is a newspaper contract worth over 60k to the taxpaper where these clowns get newspapers delivered free to the oireachtas, they cant afford to go and buy their own.

Why bring that up in this thread? Totally unrelated albeit equally wrong.

He is directly responsible for the council's debt.

He is an extremely stupid man who literally hadn't a clue how to do his job. He drew up one totally unrealistic budget after another, which the equally stupid FG councillors voted through every time.

Declan Bree (IND) and Sean MacManus (SF) have been drawing attention to it for years, but nothing was ever done about it.

It's a prime example of how incompetence by high end public servants is rewarded in this country

its not their own money, or public funds... its money donated to the party by sponsors, and in return some sponsors get rewarded with state contracts.

Eh because politics and democracy costs money. I'd rather a SF/FF/GF leaflet come in my door then be out on the streets like in Syria/Egypt dying for a vote.

I think there is proof enough somewhere within that link, you have to go in 5 or 6 pages. Its worth a look because it mentions several other slippery deals I hadn't heard of before.

    *pm sent with proof

I was listening to a radio show a while back (think last word) and they brought up the topic of the party coffers. Can't quite remember the figure, but for each TD elected for Fine Gael for example, the taxpayer pays a contribution of 2 or 3 times the TD's salary into the party coffers.

Wages + this contribution was somewhere around or over 1/4 million. For each TD. That's when I switched off the radio program, typed "What a wonderful world" into youtube, cranked up the volume and went back to work.

You need to move somewhere else if you live where people only use black and white. You are living below Sub-Saharan African standards. I'm surprised you have access to the internet really.

Clearly another waster. Don't know many companies that allow full colour printing - apart from circulars from wasteful councils such as Fingal - and as it currently seems FG wasters.

But don't you worry about that - Party hacks rarely see waste.

The weekly recession thread. I believe there should be a forum dedicated to the recession and anything recession based should be limited to that forum only.

The weekly pathetic response to a legitimate thread. Because the politicians in this Country are making an utter balls of things so often, we should ignore it because "Sher we're sick of hearing it"..

Well I'm f##king sick of seeing responses like this in every thread that points out corruption and incompetency in our government and it's employees. Just because it's common doesn't mean it should be overlooked.

I'd find more honesty in an email from the Nigerian National Lottery Agency than an email from FG.
