Hi we are a Cork based band looking to get a bit more "oomph" into our sound.
Due to time constraints our violinist will be able to spend very little on the group and so we need an overhaul.
We need someone who knows (or is at least interested in) jazz harmonies & improv, african/latin rhythms and can play outside of 4/4 common time.
You don't need to be a virtuoso and we'll teach you anything we can (and hopefully learn from you too.
Our current line up is 2 guitars, double bass and a violin.
We aren't really looking for a percussionist but if you think you have the chops then we may reconsider.
Otherwise, we would like piano, violin, viola, cello, bandoneon(accordion), etc.
Again we aren't really looking for brass or wood wind but if you know the latin and afrocuban styles well and are enthusiastic we will try you out no problem.
Ultimately we are looking for our own Chick Corea, Astor Piazzola or Duke Ellington character to join.
We are in the 20-23 age bracket so we arent virtuosic by any means.
We just love putting the latin flavour into whatever we can.
We play original compositions and a few standards and covers also.
Hear some of our tunes here http://www.breakingtunes.com/vigoband

Apologies . Didnt mean to offend . Just find it very strange that band who wants to add a latin vibe but states they " DONT " want a percussionist .. Maybe you have had some bad experience with percussionists in the past .There are some bad ones around ..

We aren't trying to add it per se, we have it and don't trust in any percussionist to be aptly qualified in salsa, samba, son montuno, mozambiquea patterns etc.
