This is not the right place to post this but if anyone can help i would be grateful. If in the sky guide for a few minutes when you go back to out of the guide you can see a outline of the guide on the screen for a few minutes. I was watching a film on channel 4 +1 and it had black bars, when it was over and I changed to another channel I could see an outline of them and the +1. It is a Samsung LCD and it is the second tv to have the same problem. Can it be fixed to stop happening.

Are you sure it's an LCD and not a plasma?

Image retention would be more common on plasma displays. Usually it goes away after a short while though. Unless you run a static image for extended period, whereby you have screenburn, which doesn't go away.

Maybe wind down the contrast or something to try lower the effect, or don't use Dynamic if that's the mode chosen.
