i just chipped my bottom molar on the side. i already have a filling in that tooth. half of the tooth has chipped off on the side. i have attached a pic. can it be filled or will it have to be extracted? you can see where the filling is and where the tooth is gone

Firstly congrats on taking a half decent intraoral photograph, not a easy thing to do. It looks like a deep enough fracture, but you would be amazed what the dentist can fill. It might require a crown and root canal depending on the extent of the decay. Best not have it removed if not necessary as the rest of your teeth are good and missing teeth even back ones are bad.

thanks. oh the sound of a root canal sends shivers down me. never had one done it just freaks me out. but sure if it has to be done so be it. id rather not lose the toots. i had a back molar extracted from the other side years ago but my wisdom tooth took its place so it was ok.
