the lighter weanlings seem to be making the big money, done a few sales during the week and bought 5 strong boys and girls. Alright at the money but wont fatten me :)

Isn't it nearly always the case that lighter weanlings are better trade.....year on year....if you haven't E or U grade for export there prob isn'tt a whole lot to encourage a lot of creep feeding...any views.

yes but it the guys under 300kilo that are a flying trade. anyway I consider the general trade for weanlings to be pretty decent

Your weanling needs to make anywhere between €650-800 to cove costs so there is a balance to be struck

Not sure to be honest, that's why I was asking redzer. I think they might be better in the mart as it never ceases to amaze me to see lads lose the run of themselves for nice breeding stock. Have you sold before on DD? Doesn't seem to be everyones cup of tea.

would the 600 euro figure be for an autumn calved cow or spring calved alot of lads round here going the autumn way or else out totally maybe the lighter spring born 300kg weanling might make more sense for the irish buyer and seller whats yere thoughts

the same story n macroom yesterday ,any nice bull between 300 and 400 kgs made 850 to 1100 ,but the boys 550 to 600 kg were a harder sell about 2 20 a kg. the heifers were on fire there the lighter they were the dearer they were. 5 nice red lim hef 320kg made 935 ,I don't think u could complain about that.

I didn't find out his lot no. but he weighed 360 kg and made €900 so I was happy enough .
I sold three blue heifers at home this evening for 1100 each . I dont know what weight they were (maybe 450 kg + ) and they were coming up on two years old . Im a little bit sorry after them but I mightnt have done alot better at the mart either between charges diesel and time spent down there
