    In a word - No

The 'Dance Scene' here was at its peak in the 90's right before the big money promoters started to squeeze out the little guys and 'Do their own thing'. Clubs like the Asylum/Sides leading the way for Temple of Sound & The Ormonde Multimedia to The Pod, Columbia Mills and The Kitchen. This changed the 'Scene' from any number of small independent promoters running monthly/bi-monthly gigs to one or two 'Big' promoters who generally go for the big ticket acts and cater for the broader crowds.

There are still some great independent promoters in this town doing a fine job of sourcing quality local talent and bringing over some great European DJ's but it is nothing like it was in the 90's. at one stage there was a 'DJ' in every bar and club in the city centre, everyone wanted to cash in on the 'Dance' scene and this kinda polluted the waters somewhat so that what was left was a watered down version of what it was like in its hey-day.

There has, however, been a bit of a resurgence in the underground scene lately and that can only be a positive thing ! Been to (and have been hearing about) allot of great underground parties 2012/2013, lots of different people organising events with great Tunes and none of the mainstream rubbish.

I think the recession has helped a lot in recent years to inject some life into what has been a lack-luster scene.

All just my opinion of course...and probably biased to my music tastes etc.

    ;)

Out of curiosity, what do you listen to?

BTW, with the likes of Bodytonic running, I think it's in a pretty healthy state for what is essentially a niche genre of music.

In fairness I would include Bodytonic here:

My music tastes have, and keep, evolving through the years, I started off listening to Groovrider, EasyGroove, & The Ratpack, from there to Drum & Baas then into the early 90's (after an Unbelievable trip to 'The Hard-Dock' in Liverpool) listening to mostly Progressive house and techno on to today which is mostly Tech-House / Minimal Techno - with a healthy dollop of Chicago House...

The youtube channel in my sig is pretty much my taste ;-)

Great channel. Thanks a million for pointing it out :)

I've been trawling the net trying to find one or few sources that have my type of music, wasting time on beatport etc. I actually made a thread on here last year or so asking people how do they source their music. That channel is a great start. Thanks a million.

Any other sources to make life easy?

I can PM u a list of great sites I use to help build the channel.

At my age rarely go out clubbing these days but my younger friends tell me the club nights in town aren't that great but it's all about the illegal after hours warehouse raves which is where it's at.

Only been at one myself in recent years and that was a few months ago after Mark Archer and it was good albeit very messy which is to be expected.

    Please do.

I particulary like that Digweed Transitions 435 that's on your channel by the way.
