Shannon spotting

    Hi there,

    I'm heading to Shannon soon for a flight, and will be arriving early enough, where is the best place for spotting?

    There's an area in the airport looking out over the runway afaik, but there also an area next to Shannon Aerospace, at the far side of the runway to the terminal building! The BA A380 was in last week and this area was packed so I suppose it's the place to go!

    There is a viewing area inside the terminal. Alternatively, if you are driving, head over to the Shannon Aerospace and just before the main entrance turn left and theres a car park for viewing beside the runway.

    The best place is over by Shannon Aerospace. Turn right at the roundabout on the way into Shannon. Then take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout. Go down about 1/2 a mile and take the road down the left of Shannon Aerospace. Great spot. I was there for the BA A380 and this is the sort of view you'll get.

    The one on the third floor is that not now closed off and is there even a view from it since they built threw new arrivals corridors

    You can still see the runway anyway. It's a few months since I was there, but it was open then. There are times when they close it for some reason, but you're usually OK. It's nice and quiet, and they have some nice photos of previous visitors up. Depending on what time of the day you're there, you might not see that much though (unfortunately).
