So I'm starting a computing science degree as a mature student in September, and I am wondering is there a choice of many different professions involved with computing when I finish up? Also what the expected starting off salary is for them and what you could work up to over the years and would also like to know which ones are most difficult or stressful or more rewarding etc.
    Cheers

Search for "Ireland salary survey" and most recruitment agents post surveys of the IT jobs, with starting, mid and senior figures.

Most difficult and stressful depend on your skill level !

Established large multinationals are more likely to have better project management, less stress etc.

The likes of start-up companies will be under pressure to develop a product/service, win and maintain clients and become profitable as soon as possible.
Games companies are probably under a lot of stress too, to release the title(s) for the christmas market or various annnual games conferences worldwide.

Small companies, will tend to be more stressful if they're chasing sales and focusing on customers to stay in business, but relying on only a few staff to achieve it. Although you will learn a lot more in a small company as you'd be expected to perform many roles.

It's a massive field. It totally depends on where you go and what you do. Specialisation is key. Practically everything uses computer programs these days. In Ireland I'd say starting Salary of about €30k going up to €50k in the first 3 years would be normal.

If you went to America you're looking at a starting salary of around $50-70k going up to 100k in the first 3 years.

Assuming you can get the jobs of course. What areas does the course cover?

It's more focussed on Networking it seems which is also a massive field with lots of work. I'd say the money would be around the same.
