Would you consider changing to a more common rim 15/16" rim size? Would give a wider choice of tyres and there's usually a few rims and tyres floating around for sale.

15's won't fit over the front brakes unless they have crazy offset. ;)

AT s are a good mix for both
Ive cooper ATRs discovery on a full size jeep
I went slightly wider from 235 to 245/65R17 grip on road especially in wet ice or snow is actually better than road tyres off road much better too but they are no MT so soft deep mud fills the treads quickly.
General grabber 2 AT have good reviews

Both are rated for 50K miles but I expect 40k miles is more realistic.

I like to try cooper SST as they are better off road but I've no experience so can't recommend.

Expect your mpg to suffer a bit as ATs spread out a little more on the road causing a little extra drag over normal road tires. But hey they allow you drive fire trails in woods or across a field. :)

Anyone used tyreshop.ie? Prices are slightly lower than eiretyres.
I use Cooper STT's on a defender, good mud tyre but the treads are a bit to soft for my liking and rocky trails tend to knock lumps off them. Noise is one added isue with the more aggressive tread.

Looking at buying a set of BFG At's for my D2 at the moment; it has 235/70R16's at the moment but I might stretch the budget to gor for the 265/75R16's - pricey though.

I got s set of bfg at for the pajero 6months ago, 660 installed for 265 75 16 from cottersmc in dublin. They mainly do motorcycle tyres but have started to do cars/jeeps but onle michellin and bfg. Great tyre, amazing in the wet, fairly quiet on the road, i likei them so much,i just ordered another set for the navara. He doesnt stock car/jeep tyres so they need to order them but usually only takes a few days
