    Hi,

Over the last few days the back passenger break seems to be sticking when I start driving. The abs light came on this morning when it stuck. I turned the car off and back on and the light went out.I reversed tge car and heard a knock and when I drove forward the break had released. When I felt the drum, it was hot after the journey. Problem is I'm 100 miles from home on holidays and due to go home on Saturday. Any ideas what's causing it or
any quick fixes to get me home?

    Jim

AFAIK the rear brakes on that car are drums with shoes, in which case they need to be cleaned and adjusted.

    Possibly the handbrake cable?

Can you remove the wheels and have a look yourself or do you need a mechanic?

I wonder if the brake linings are parting company with the shoes. Probably need to remove rear drums to check.

Most likely cause. It was common in French cars of that era which had drum brakes on the rear. The linings were bonded to the shoes and the bonding often failed.
