The focus looks like it need a new exhaust. The back box looks as if it's had a very hard knock, it's craped to bits and there's a large dent on it. There also seems to be a few holes just near where the car is located so I think it's best just to change the whole thing.

Would anyone know roughly the cost of an exhaust probably from a a scrap yard ? I had a good look at the exhaust and it looks like a job I could easily do myself, is it an easy job?

I picked the car up real cheap so don't wanna spend mad money on it.

You taking about just changing the back box? Will be easy if you can weld. Back boxes are cheap enough, be taking about 50 euro new.

If your talking about changing all of it including cat and down pipe you will be talking a good few quid and may need to remove rear suspension parts (I'm not entirely sure where the back pipe runs over on focus's)

Problem with scrap yard exhausts is that the scrap yard usually puts cars on top of one another so exhausts are usually badly dented gouged.

I think ill just change the lot mate, no point in only getting the back box if the rest of the exhaust has other problems. I'll have a second look but i'm sure the whole exhaust is in bad shape..

Where abouts are you? I would highly recommend Auto exhausts on stanaway road crumlin. They do all exhaust repairs / fitting etc. They are very resonable and only cost me a few quid for a new flexy and hangers when I was down there. Top notch work :). Number is 014059812.

That's the exact noise I am getting from the cat in the focus. Even when the engine is off and I giggle the cat it's rattling like crazy. So looks like I need a new cat.

Lads, where would be the best place to buy an exhaust for the car? Very embaressing driving it with the rattle.. As I said it also had a few holes in it so I think i'm just better changing the whole thing...

Turned out the cat and flexi pipe needs replacing. Quoted 500 euro from the exhaust centre. Bought a cat and pipe from the scrapyard my mate runs. got them for 50 quid. I thought that was a good price. Now just fit them :)

    Good stuff.
Would be more inclined to use a second hand cat than brand new one.

Bolts on the exhaust can be a complete b**** to remove so invest in a small disposable gas burner and might be a good idea to buy new bolts as they can get chewed up when removing them.
    And don't forget the gaskets.
