Replacing 185-50-16 tyres with 185-60-16

Hi all, total fool when it comes to these things so figured I'd ask what's probably a basic question.
If it's in the wrong place please delete or move.

I'm driving a wee micra. The tyres on it at the moment are the recommended 185-50-16.
I need to replace the two rear tyres and I'm finding this size is pretty expensive as it appears to be odd and a higher profile tyre is much cheaper from what I can see.

If I replace them with a higher profile of 185-60-16 how will I know that I have proper clearance and as it's the rear tyres I'm replacing I'm assuming that the old back ones will be swapped with the front and the new ones then put on the front?

Will having a higher profile at the front than at the back be an issue?

Any other issues with this that I'm not thinking off?

    Any help would be great,

    cheers

    I'd sooner go 195/50 16

Afaik 185/60 16 is also oddball.

Slightly bigger tyres at the back look better than at the front.
I'd stick 195/50 on the back and go from there.

16 inch wheels on a Micra

Here's a handy tyre size calculator I use for ages:

    http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

According to this your speedo would be reading 6.3 % too slow with the higher tyres.
If you go with colm_mcm's recommendation then the speed difference would be only 1.7 %.

    Be fine.

195 50 16 would also be fine too.

Didn't think of the speedo reading actually.
I'm alright with it reading 120 when I'm going 100 but the other way round is gonna lead to me racking up the penalty points so that's not good.

It's definitely something to bear in mind.

Is it alright to have different sized wheels though?
Not for looks or anything, more from a handling perspective

Its not that much. Most speedos under read to would probably make ya right. Even if it was bang on it would be 106 instead of 100kph

It's alright to have different ones on different axles. Not different ones on the same axle.
