FETAC Healthcare Support

    Hey guys,

I want to do a FETAC in Healthcare Support and work as a care assistant.

I've been getting Jobseekers for the last four months and registered with FAS today to ask if they had any healthcare courses coming up. I might as well have stayed home and searched their site again myself since that's all the guy did but anyway.. There's only one coming up and it's too far away for me to get to daily. I'm located in Dublin south. I'm going mad doing nothing and I would love to be starting one of these courses in September/October.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get funding from FAS to do one of the other healthcare courses? For example, I know CPL do a FETAC in Healthcare, but FAS don't mention it. And I'm sure there's other organisations. Any help from anyone with this particular FETAC and where you did it would be great. I'm not interested in doing a PLC or anything, I can't afford to, if I was long enough on the dole for BTEA it would be fine but I need to have some sort of income while doing the course.

Side question, I have a FETAC Level 5 in IT - will I have to do Communications again when I do finally get to Healthcare? I remember when I was doing my FETAC some lads didn't do Communications because they already had FETACs. I just ask out of curiousity, I don't mind doing it again, but seeing as it's a mandatory part of FETACs that I already have, it would make funding me a bit cheaper, hopefully!
