Widow’s & Orphans / Spouses’ and Children’s Contributory Pension Scheme

My dad was a Psychiatric nurse working for the HSE who passed away in 2005 and had opted prior to his death to be apart of the Widows & Orphans / Spouses’ and Children’s Contributory Pension Scheme.

As a result I /my Mother received a cheque (in my Mothers name but uses my pps number/tax credits etc.) fortnightly since and still continue to do so as I'm 20 and still in college. However I now no longer live at home and have a job so support myself .

My question is would it be worthwhile calling up the HSE and seeing if it would be possible to transfer the cheques into my name from my Mum's so I could cash them myself since I'm now an adult etc. ?

Or will it just be a flat out no ?
