New to growing barley and the crows are having a field day as it is on the edge of town so a banger is out of the question, any idea how to solve my problem?

Twine and tie bits of plastic to it and string across areas where the barley is being attacked.

Talk nicely to the local gun club. They were blazing away around my yard at 8.30 yeaterday morning and I mean blazing. There twice last week as well.

Shoot a crow , tie it to a fence post or the like so a fox or dog wont carry it , and spread its wings. the other crows will be afraid to land then.

you could also get a hawk kite , the father has one which he swears by

A scarecrow or a hawk kite will do the job! The veg farm I work on has three hawks and they do the job nicely!

The towns folk will be delighted with that proposal.

get a long bar of some description about 9ft high stick into going tie onto a fencing post if theres one near by and tie a small fertilizer bag onto the top with a twine.

    That doesn't always work.
Crows will cop onto it quick enough and won't stop feeding because of one dead crow.
10 or 12 crows hanging will keep them at bay for a while though
