If you are in the North east at the weekend, and looking for a race, could I interest you in the Blackrock Seaside Festival 4 mile road race.

I mean the real Blackrock, of course, not the one in Dublin, or the one in Cork.

Its sponsored by Fyffes so expect plenty of bananas.
Cash prizes and refreshments afterwards, plus a funfair.


The only problem is that it clashes with the Festival peanut butter eating competition.

I'll be there. Anyone run it before, any idea what the course is like? I know it's a two lap course.

I missed it last year so I don't know the exact route.

The organisers are describing it as a fast flat course. I have run around the Rock a few times, and I have never come across a hill, or anything close to a hill.

Do you know the village ?

A loop starting from the seafront up towards Cockle Hill, Up Wallaces Road, Right onto the Rock Road and back down Sandy Lane to the seafront again is about 2 miles. Bet that's it
