How's it going, looking to buy a new car in the next few weeks, have a budget of around 1200 and am looking for a decent 1.3, I know I won't get anything newer than 2002/03 but that doesn't bother me, what do people think are the best 1.3 cars around? Have a fiesta now so don't want another one of those :). I've been thinking about the Mazda 323 but not sure if that's considered a good car?

Why 1.3 litre only, the Mazda 323 is a decent car but if you include 1.4 litre then your choice opens up to the likes of a Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, etc.

Well the reason is that I'm still only on a provisional license and don't know what the difference in insurance would be, I just went 24 there the other day, I've been driving just over a year and have 1 years no claims bonus, my insurance is currently 950 or thereabouts for the year, how much do you think it would go up with a 1.4? I'm with Britton if that makes a difference.

I doubt it'll go up much mate, give them a bell is The handiest way to know.
If your trying to keep your insurance down then why not a 1 litre?

Well I'm not trying to keep it down, I'm happy enough with the price it's at now and wouldn't have a problem with it going up another small bit for a 1.4, just wasn't sure if it'd go up a couple of hundred if I was to change is all.

Only your insurance company can answer that but some insurance companies go by bhp (power output) other than engine capacity. I cannot imagine there being a huge difference between 1.3 and 1.4 though.
