McDonalds app is giving away free frappes and those smoothie things. You download their app bring up a map and you need to go to where it says and claim your drink. They all seem to be within viewing distance of a Mcdonals so you wont have to drive or anything.

No one in waterford claim these I plan to try live on them :D

The app crashed on the 3 phones I have tried this on (Nexus 4, HTC Sensation, GS2). They must have got some lad off the burger line to develop the app.

Yup tried to use this app back in July and it was hopeless.

Pity, it'd be nice to get the occasional free drink.

My brother and all of his friends (about 10 of them ) on a night out tried it and no one of them could get it to work. I got it working on Galaxy S4 and but the app wiped my free smoothie and when I tried again they were gone.

Had it working at the counter a few times and either (a) the thing would disappear and on retry it would be gone or (b) it would come up for the Rathmines store (which I haven't been to in 15 years) no matter where in the country I was.

There is an older version of the App that is still in the Playstore, thats stable on Android.

About the wrong location coming up- I asked and was told they were aware of it. Their restaurants seem to be in steel and concrete based structures- which tends to play havoc with mobile signals (so they say). They said it was one of the reasons they decided to rollout free wifi in their restaurants- as people were unable to access their own.

Have a check in some of the newer stores- like Maynooth etc- not a peep out of your phone- no signal whatsoever.

Try the older App too- it will come up as 'invalid' but it still works, and is updated with the latest offers.

I think the problem is you're not supposed to allow the screen to lock. You're meant to swipe the thing in front of them. They want you in the store really buying stuff already, rather than what I do, sit on the couch at home looking for a free smoothie!

Seems people have been trying with screenshots, so that's why they want you to swipe in front of them. My closest is also Rathmines. Which is odd. As I'm in Shannon. Took me two hours to get there. Had melted by the time I got home.

The same guys did the Android and iOS apps. They're far more familiar with iOS, than they are Android- which is probably why its not quite as stable, as it should be.........

Usually works for me though for some reason the map has gotten screwed up even more since the last update.
Case in point, being in the shannon branch and saying I need to get closer.
Being outside the ennis road one, "winning" the frape after clicking the ennis road one, then it says I have to collect it in cruises street!
Also the shannon branch has now disappeared from the map.

On the plus side, I have actually gotten about 20 in the last month!

I've never had problems getting the McDonald's promotions on my iPhone.

Have you ever thought of throwing away those cheapo Android phones & getting a proper phone?

We're in the bargain section of boards aren't we.
Unless you can get us an iphone for cheap then no.

What are you trying to say? The phones he mentioned are far from cheap, and all will excellent specs, they are well able to run any app...unless you're referring to those <€50 phones, then yes, I agree.

A Nexus 4 is probably more advanced than the next generation iphone. The Sensation and GS2 were top of the range phones when they came out first.

I've got four/five of these throughout July. Handy when heading home from shopping!

I pick the one on shop street galway and it tells me to collect in Rathmines.

Not just a one off either, happened 3 times. Worst app I've ever used.

Also, I emailed macdonalds customer service about the issue and they never replied to me. I would have thought they'd have good customer service.

I'm in Waterford and my local McDonalds is Rathmines too :) I "won" one but didn't go in to get it, disappeared from my phone almost immediately anyway :(
