    Try a camping shop.

Unfortunately most of the camping shops seem to be flogging the led ones and I want an oil one
they can be had on flebay and amazon but the postage is mad money thought it qould be straightforward enough to get one here but have not seen any
    Thanks for your reply though

Try a couple of hardware stores, esp. any of the older established ones down the country, rather than a B & Q.

Good idea...i actually got one of those lamps years ago from some hardware shop in Drumcondra...i've seen them since in a few places, they tend to be yellow.

Costello's in Patrick St. Dun Laoghaire (up the hill from the big church on George's St.) or Baumann's in Stillorgan (Old Dublin road, city side of the shopping centre) would be worth trying, they're old fashioned h/w shops.
