Delighted to see this, he was riding well until he was ill for the last week of the TdF. He has a good history in the vuelta, at worst he can use it to prepare for the worlds.

    Dan's 150/1 on bet365 atm

Well worth a few quid e/w as their odds are way out of whack compared to any other market.

In to 100/1 now, but that's still much better than the competition: Paddy Power 35s, Ladbrokes 40s, SkyBet 28s.

Bookies really have no idea about cycling. Betancur 20/1?

I'm not much of a betting man, but there is sick money to be made in the match-ups section.

Dropped to 66/1 there now as I was placing a bet. Threw €10 E/W on him, definitely worth a punt

They wouldn't accept the amount of money I wanted to put on him (at 100/1) ....

It's for your own good Beasty. I'd sooner bet on Betancur, and he has no chance.

Counting his chickens big time, the 2014 Giro is a long way down the road. The final route doesn't even get revealed until October. But good to see he's so confident.

He and Roche were always going to do the Giro when it started in Ireland. Their teams and sponsors would insist on it for publicity reasons.

Yeah of course, but already saying he'll lead Garmin's GC campaign is what's strange to me.

From his twitter account this morning, very sad news, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Sad to leave the vuelta but can't race with these birds flying round my head. I hit a hole or rock in the road. Down I went #****happens

Love Dan Martin as a rider - he is a great talent

But not sure why he was cycling right at the back of the peloton for the last 2 days...as Kirby and Kelly keep saying being near the back is dangerous if you have intentions on GC...maybe team was not that strong ??

Hopefully he will now do Tour of Britain as training for the Worlds and I will get a chance to see him ride in person

    Ouch! Hope he recovers soon.

He looked fairly 'dazed' when the camera cut to him just after the fall yesterday. I imagine that the Tour of Britain is a possibility now with preparations for the worlds in mind at the end of September. Interesting that he a bit of a go at the UCI regarding safety standards etc..
