Ok guys, kind of a complicated one but any info you could give would be great. Its not for me but I have a relative in a pretty bad situation. She has a kid and is living with her husband in a council house. But he is an alcoholic and she simply cannot live there with him any more. They are also kind of getting a joint social welfare payment as they are married.

So my question is what would be the procedure here? Would she be able to claim her own social welfare payment and perhaps get a place for her and kid? How long do these things take?

    Cheers guys
