The 4.2 V8s are supposedly much, much more reliable than the older B5 2.7s.

Whatever you do, I'll pay you money to put TDI badges on it. Seriously.

Still will be a distinctive car all the same.

I've never driven one so am looking forward to seeing what's it like.

I've never driven one, and I doubt any/many here will have either.

Check it over carefully - and then have a bundle of fun with it. Best of luck.

Lovely car and color, best of luck if you go ahead with it. Surprised however though that they don't come in DSG form.

Think of the tax and the running costs though??

wouldnt you be much better off with a diesel like this? http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-passat-1-6-tdi-se-bluemotion/5487101

Super cars. A Milkek exhaust is just incredible.

That particular model is pretty overpriced though. A really nice enthusiast owned example (also in sprint blue) sold on donedeal for under 17k so keep that in mind.

They are partial to carbon build up in the engines, so check if it's had a process called 'decoking' done in it's history. Also, check the brake discs carefully as they are very expensive to replace.

Sure that is the best of both worlds. Could even stick the RS4 badges on the back of it since it is a vag too.

Serious tax and fuel bill but on the plus side a serious car to boot. If I had one, I'd be de-badging it anyway as I feel they are (unfortunately) an utter theft magnet.

Yeah totally impossible to spot without the badge, criminals need badges to know what to steal they are that dumb....
Taking off badges is what small desiel owners do, when you have the real deal you dont hide it. Forget the fuel, tax and insurance. You will be a long time dead, live a little.

    Smashing looking motor.
Is that the standard radio unit or an aftermarket pioneer?

Just speaking from both personal and experience with friends both here and State-side who would own serious prestige models. It takes away the average criminal if its a little harder to ID. But granted, if they want it they'll find and take it.

Just my two cents. I can see both sides but I'd always debadge any high end car in Ireland. Great car either way, don't think I've ever heard a bad thing about them and they can seriously keep up with the big boys. Probably my favourite car on the likes of the Bullrun / Gumball:

I know a guy who an 08 Avant model, serious machine, never got a hop off it unfortunately. Hound on juice obviously but absolutely understated super car IMO.

I recall he had an issue with seals on the suspension or something and had a hard time getting them done under warranty, not sure if it was a one off issue or something common to the model. Might be worth checking out.

Happy motoring, as mentioned earlier very jealous.

Cheers, I didn't realise they could be got that much cheaper!

I've heard about the carbon build up all right so will be checking that.
Dealer said that the brake discs and pads were just done so one less thing to worry about.

Might as well have a look at this one too when I'm up:

You won't buy a genuine example for €17k in my opinion. It's just not going to happen.

Debadging is pointless. Anyone who thinks that debagding or re-badging a B7 RS4 will stop them being targeted is either having a laugh or they have never actually seen an RS4 in the flesh. They are so aggressive looking compared to an A4 that is is immediately obvious to anyone in the know. The type of characters who steal these high performance saloons are not stupid, as I found out to my cost last year

Yeah the first one is my first choice, I'd have to have that wheel!
Hadn't actually noticed the difference in the seats, thought they would be the same in both.. Thanks.

My earlier post was incorrect, the car was asking 19,500.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-sold/audi-rs4-4-2l-v8/5110152

I'd say the new owner got a grand off at least, so keep that in mind with your offer.

The one in Blackrock is missing the bucket seats also, which are a really nice touch (they hug you in when the sport button is pressed)

The one the OP is looking at though is a year younger and will have a warranty factored into the price so not really a fair comparison..

No, it's not a like for like exactly, but very close. However, do you think a year up and a warranty justify an extra 4-5k? Not for me anyhow.

What nonsense. I can think of no reason other than insecurity to have the engine details written on the back of ones car. Makes about as much sense as having your salary painted on your bootlid.

@OP - Lovely car, I wouldn't be too gone on the colour but if it's not a problem for you then go for it!.

4-5k would be a normal year's depreciation on a car like I'd imagine. I would also indeed value the warranty on a car like that.

    Mik, don't be a bollox....buy that car :D

Bohrio has/had one and he was telling me at one of the meets that he had to bring it to Audi to get all the carbon build up removed which is an engine-out and strip down job AFAIK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,444 ✭✭✭frostie500

Drove that car a few months ago, it's in good condition and a great drive. I've an m3 and never thought it lacked for poke but the rs was a whole other kettle of fish. Unreal power, especially in sport mode, and also bags of grip and space. I didn't find the seats comfortable so make sure to adjust them properly before you set off.

    have fun op!

Looks like there is a common suspension issue in them.
There was a recall issued in 2010 so must check if it got that done.

Rubbish, I'd never de-badge a car. I want people to know what car I have not try to hide it!

Like my GTI for instance, the GTI badge is an institution why on earth would I want to remove it and take from the experience of owing the car.

Warranty will be covered by a third party for about 1k and that's something you could look after yourself.

4-5k depreciation a year at that age? You think the 06 will be at 14-15k from 2014 on? Don't think so....

06-07 makes little odds imo. Check out the prices of e60 m5's for example. No price differential between 05-06 models whatsoever.

The depreciation on RS4's now will be very slight anyhow. I still believe the 06 I posted at a (guessed) sale price of 18.5k is by far the better value proposition.

Not the case. It is messy and very time consuming and consequently expensive but not a difficult job by any means.

Rough estimate on what an indy would price the job at? Am considering an avant (either s6 v10 or rs4) in the new year.

Anything else specific to the RS4 that I should be asking about apart from the carbon build up and suspension recall?

    Cheers.

I have a B7 S4, can't imagine what it'd be like to have even more performance on top of that.
As regards de-badging, I wouldn't, but the sound is always gonna be a dead giveaway ;-) even if you didn't spot the wider, lower uber aggressive stance, specific bodykit and interior quality.

    So....in conclusion.......BUY IT!!!!!!
