€15k UK Import?

    I am planning on changing my car in the new year, looking for a decent sized estate, with good spec. As usual, nothing good in Ireland. Would it be worth my while looking UK? I am thinking around the €15k mark landed.

    Cars of interest,

    Mondeo 2.0TDCi 140bhp
    VW Passat 1.9Tdi (Heard 2.0TDI is trouble)


    Is there a rule of thumb on VRT, ie 20% of purchase price? Don't want to buy a car and find I can't afford the VRT...

    A €15k 2.0TDI Passat will have the newer common rail engine which is relatively trouble free. I would definitely recommend one over a 1.9TDI, they are a far more modern engine. They are smoother, quieter, more powerful and more economical.
