Who's the next Colin Farrell?

Ireland has a reputation for producing leading actors down through the years that have managed to make the breakthrough to Hollywood movies.

Greats like Richard Harris and Peter O' Toole have been followed by A listers such as Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan and Brendan Gleeson. More recently actors like Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy, Michael Fassbender and Saoirse Ronan have continued the trend of Irish talent headlining major movies.

My question is - who will be the next Irish actor to make that breakthrough?

Jack Reynor seems like an obvious choice - great in What Richard Did and now lined up to star in the next Transformers movie.

Tom Vaughan Lawlor has the potential; he's known for his portrayal of Nidge in Love/Hate and I was blown away by his performance in Arturo Ui a few years ago.

Colin O'Donoghue was in The Rite a few years ago and looked to be on the cusp of stardom but the film wasn't that well received.

Martin McCann always does good work... as does Domhnall Gleeson... Robert Sheehan seems to have missed his window. Is Chris O' Dowd a star already? I think Charlie Murphy, also of Love/Hate, has a big future.

Colin Farrell went from Ballykissangel to Tigerland so some actors are only the right role away from stardom.Who else is out there? Has anyone seen the potential in one of Ireland's young actors to make the breakthrough on the international stage?

Colin O'Donoghue is on that Once Upon a Time show now. He seems to be doing quite well. Was only supposed to be a guest part but they kept him for the second part of season 2 and now he's in the 3rd one too. Personally I wouldn't rate that show very highly but it's hugely popular and if he uses it right he could go on to much bigger things.

Robert Sheehan is in that Mortal Instruments film that's out soon. Potential to be massive, or a massive flop.

It really depends on what you mean by "Colin Farrell". Potentially great actor? Or guy who plays up to the Irish stereotype makes a show of himself and us while making any old rubbish that will get him a paycheck?

    ^ Hart's War wasn't tres shabby either.

I'm assuming the OP meant success and fame on the level of Colin Farrell. Not necessarily another actual Colin Farrell. And they do put him in the same bracket as Murphy, Fassy, Saoirse Ronan and others. I'm guessing all the names wouldn't fit in the title...

    Bullsh**t,
Most of Ireland wants another Colin Farrell type hollywood star,
He may have a massive ego and be self centred but he's Ireland's Hollywood star.
Now don't get me wrong, some of his movies are meh...but they make millions and it's all about entertaintment.

He seems a bit more level headed since he's been sober, although he veers into Bono territory at times in his interviews now.

Another ex OUAT actor Jamie Dornan (The Fall) who ironically has married Colin's ex seems to be also heading for big things

Ahhh, I knew I knew her from somewhere but when I looked up her career I didn't recognise anything. But it's from being Mrs. Farrell that I knew her. Now she's Mrs. Dornan! The bitch!

    Sam Keeley

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4187130/

In the soon-to-be-shot new Ron Howard movie. Was in RTE's RAW.

Listening to him on Ray D'Arcy Show this morning, seems a nice, level-headed lad.

He has a big silly head on him all the time on that show. Good luck to him though.

Jim Norton (AKA LEN) made it to space to reach Babylon 5. That's as high a star as anyone can reach.

BTW I watched this last year and nearly fell out of my seat laughing so I had to pause. WTF you come out of. It's surreal as I never seen him anything else ever.

    CRIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
