Thinking of heading to Cycle Superstore in Tallaght on Sunday on the Luas.

The luas map is hard to make out and dosent have exact addresses and google maps does not seem to have luas stops that I can see

For the Cycle Superstore in Tallaght, what would be the best Luas stop to get off at ?

how far of a walk is the store from the Luas stop ?

The Luas is kind of Crap for Cyclesuperstore. Kingswood would be the best stop (roughly north of the shop) The cyclesuperstore is in an industrial estate just off the greenhills road. Looks to be about a 20min walk.

As said, Luas ain't great for CSS.

Would you not ...... cycle.....? ;)

That way, you could also visit the Cycle Inn. Make a day of it!

I plan to cycle home from CSS ; )

    Mmmmm, so luas not great.

Would any of these luas stops have a taxi rank nearby - just to hop in a taxi to CSS after getting off luas

You'd get a taxi from the sq no bother. Or put the tenner towards shiny new bike! Hibernian ind est is only about a 20 minute walk.

Another option would be the bus. Any of the 65's would drop you in Tallaght village. CSS is only a short walk from there. Where are you coming from?

The 77 from Ringsend used to go right outside the entrance to the estate it's in, haven't got it in years so not sure it still does. If you were to get the Luas to the Square and didn't want to walk there's a few buses heading by on the way back to town.

    I don't think that 77 still goes.
I have not used public transport in a while.Everytime I do, I invariably encounter a scummer.

Would the bus or the luas be the safest out to tallaght ?

I'd be travelling about midday so probably not too bad then.

Quick look at dublinbus.ie - you could try the 27 from city center ? Goes along Greenhills road so should drop you closest.

You'll be fine either way, you won't be eaten once you get to Tallaght.

    Seriously?

It's Tallaght not the slums of Soa Paulo. Just hop on the Luas and walk ffs.

The 27 is the same as the old 77 isn't it? In which case you could get that from town and get off on the greenhills road past Kilnamanagh, leaving only a short walk.

Alternatively you could get the 77a on the Ringsend Road, and get off at the Cuckoos Nest on the Greenhills road, leaving about a 15 walk.

Both better options than the Luas. And no, you won't die.

Get the bus from Pearse st, the 77 or 77A. Stops 5 min walk from the shop

Does the 27 stop outside it? If so I'll definitely have to make a trip across.

The 77 doesn't exist anymore, you'd need to get the 27 from Dame St.

The 77a can be got on the Ringsend Rd by the bus depot.

Close enough anyway, you'd need to get off at the Cuckoos Nest as it turns off the greenhills road after that, but it's only a 10/15 min walk from there at most.

I hear there are bears in tallaght and the bears are attracted to the smell of affluence. You've been warned.

So just an update. Picked up my bike today in cycle superstore. Went out on the luas. Didnt get stabbed or shot at but got attacked by a bear ; )

Anyways kinda had the bike route mapped out to cycle home before hand on the computer but I don't know the area at all so kinda got lost for a bit.

I'm not fully au fait with cycling rules

I ended up on a road that brought me down to the n81 i.e. a road with 2 lanes in same direction that leads up to a big enough round about that has 3 lanes at the roundabout. I knew this road from being on it in my car.

I decided to do a u turn and go another way.

Are bicycles allowed on roads like this with 2 lanes and busy roundabouts etc

And I don't need a lecture or tut tuts or why didnt you go this route etc etc just looking for friendly advice.

Yes, bikes are allowed on the N81.

    Jaysus, right.

Dunno would I fancy tackling that 3 lane roundabout on a bike - sounds dangerous.

Is there any guide for where you can and can't cycle on a bike in Ireland ?

You may cycle on any road apart from motorways.

    Right. Thanks.

So if you come to a mad roundabout that has 3 lanes - do you just do the same as when your in a car ?

    Right. Thanks.

If by that you mean failing to indicate while negotiating the roundabout without any regard to lanes or other drivers-then no :pac:

Pretty much, ie: pick the lane which is most appropriate for your exit. Be confident, speed can help.

    ; )

Seriously though , as I say new to cycling. But tackling a 3 lane roundabout sounds dodgy -- especially with dodgy drivers also.
