Mac users might find this handy if they use Bootcamp. You can also, if you're a student, get Windows for free, as well as many other products from Dreamspark. Look it up.

I'm rocking Windows 8 on my laptop, despite not being a student. Students can go wild.

A perpetual license is a license that is paid once and does not need to be renewed annually.

I suspect that you will have to make a payment when you graduate!!

I've never heard of a Software 4 Students offer requiring further payment, and the same goes for the Dreamspark service.

Sorry m8, how did you get Win 8?

I'm a student at DCU and I've logged on and being verified as a DCU student on dreamspark but all the software I see is stuff like servers and Visual Studio and whatnot.

Don't see anything like Win 7 or 8 or MS office.

It might depend on what course you are doing, I never had office on there but I did have all the OS's.

Yeah, some colleges don't have a premium subscription. The best thing is to search for your school or college and see are they registered for the premium account. I thought that most Irish universities were.

It depends on your course. You have to be doing a course related to Science, IT, Engineering, or Maths in order to be eligible for a premium account.

It should work as normal after a year, I emailed software4students about what was mean't by perpetual license, this was there reply: "Microsoft have stated that they will validate the software after a year. Once you have graduated the product should continue as normal."

They ask you to log in to your student email and after payment I get download link and the usual activation code
