Immunity and spread of infection

So my 18mth old has chicken pox at the minute, I've had them before but I'm wondering is it possible for me to spread them to others who do not have immunity?

I'm due to hold a meeting for new, breastfeeding mothers, one mother asked me was it possible for me to spread them even though I'm immune?

Defo talk to your Dr for advice.

The academic answer is yes it is possible. The virus in question is highly contagious and airborne (ie spread by little droplets that come of the infected person and then inhaled) but it can also be transmitted by contact with infected objects, so while you yourself may not shed (ie. sneeze out) virus, your clothes and anything else which has potentially been infected by your child's virus may act to transmit.
I'm not a dr but I'd imagine common sense would be for you to avoid newborns and pregnant women for the moment..

Yes I already spoke to gp about this, her response was 'that's a good question, I've no idea, I never thought of that before' so no help from her.
I went up to my local pharmacist today and asked him, he said no its not possible at all. He said because I've had CP before the chances of me being infected again is extremely low so the infection will not enter my system and I can not spread it.

He's right -you can't spead it, your infected clothes however could!

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada:
SURVIVAL OUTSIDE HOST: Labile outside host cell. It survives in the external environment for a few hours and occasionally for a day or two.
